I still remember my visit to Al Fahidi historic district on a sunny day in February 2022. So, I decided to create a walking tour to share its beauty with you. You'll find it's a great place to learn about Dubai's history and culture.
To get to Al Fahidi historic district, take the metro to Al Fahidi station and walk towards Al Satwa Road. Honestly, it's not that far, and the walk will give you a chance to see the surrounding area. You can also take a taxi, which will cost around 20-30 AED from most parts of Dubai.
Look, the traditional Arabic architecture in Al Fahidi is amazing. The district is filled with old buildings made of coral and limestone, with wind towers that were used for cooling before air conditioning. You'll see many of these buildings have been restored and are now used as museums, galleries, and cultural centers. But, some are still private homes, so be respectful of the residents.
Here's the thing: there's a lot to see and do in Al Fahidi historic district. You can visit the Al Fahidi Fort, which is now a museum and costs 3 AED to enter. You can also walk along the creek and take a traditional Arabic dhow cruise for around 50-100 AED per person. And, don't forget to try some local food, like machboos, at one of the traditional restaurants in the area - I ordered it at a small restaurant on Al Mussallah Road and it was delicious.
So, to make the most of your walking tour, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. It's also a good idea to dress modestly and respect the local culture. If you're looking for more tours in Dubai, check out the Dubai Half-Day City Tour or the Sharjah City Tour from Dubai.
If you're interested in booking a tour, you can do so through Roamigo Trips — they offer a range of tours, including the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi Tickets, which is a great option if you're traveling with kids.
Finally, be sure to bring your camera to capture the beautiful architecture and stunning views of the creek — you won't want to miss it.
