I still remember the day I visited Al Fahidi historic district — 15th February. The sun was shining bright as I walked along the narrow streets, taking in the traditional Arabic architecture. So, I started my journey from the Al Fahidi Metro Station, and from there, it's just a short walk to the district.
Look, getting to Al Fahidi historic district is relatively easy. You can take the metro to Al Fahidi Station and from there, it's a 5-minute walk. Honestly, I took a taxi, which cost around 20 AED from my location in Downtown Dubai. But, I'd recommend taking the metro, it's cheaper and more efficient.
Here's the thing: Al Fahidi historic district is full of must-see attractions. You'll find the Al Fahidi Fort, which now serves as a museum, and the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. And, you can take a traditional Arabic coffee and dates for around 10 AED. I ordered the gahwa, a traditional Arabic coffee, and it was amazing.
So, before you visit, make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection. You'll be walking a lot, and the sun can get quite strong. You'll also find some shops and restaurants along the way, where you can grab a bite to eat or buy some souvenirs. I stopped by a small café on Al Satwa Road and had a delicious shawarma for 15 AED.
