Authentic Indian Food in Dubai

Ahmed Al Rashid June 15, 2026

I still remember my first bite of authentic Indian food in Dubai — it was a chilly winter evening on February 10th, and I'd just ordered the chicken tikka masala from a small restaurant on Al Rigga Road. So, I know what you're looking for: the real deal, not some watered-down version of Indian cuisine. Look, Dubai's got plenty of options, but you gotta know where to go.

Street Food Delights

And, honestly, some of the best Indian food I've had in Dubai has been from street vendors. You'll find them scattered around the city, particularly near the metro stations like BurJuman or Union. But, be prepared for a wait, especially during peak hours. I once waited for 20 minutes for a plate of spicy samosas from a vendor near the creek — it cost me just 10 AED, and it was worth every minute.

Mid-Range Marvels

For a more sit-down experience, I'd recommend checking out some of the mid-range restaurants in areas like Karama or Oud Metha. You can get a delicious meal for around 50-70 AED per person. I recently visited a restaurant called Taste of India near the Lamcy Plaza, and their biryani was amazing. You'll also find plenty of options near the Marina Dhow Cruise area, if you're looking for a pre-cruise meal.

High-End Indian

But, if you're looking to splurge, Dubai's got some incredible high-end Indian restaurants. One of my favorites is Armani/Amal at the Burj Khalifa — the view's stunning, and the food's even better. You'll pay around 200-300 AED per person, but trust me, it's an experience. And, if you're in the area, you could even book a Luxury Tour of the Burj Al Arab to make a day of it.

Personal Favorites

So, my go-to Indian restaurant in Dubai is still Dastaan - it's a small place near the Green Planet area, but the food's incredible, and the service is always friendly. My driver, Kumar, took me there on my first visit, and I've been back at least 10 times since. I once even ordered the whole menu, just to try everything — don't do that, by the way, it won't end well. My bill was over 500 AED, and I was stuffed for days.

Practical Tips

Honestly, the best tip I can give you is to be adventurous - don't be afraid to try new dishes, and don't stick to what you know. And, if you're looking for a unique experience, consider booking a food tour with Roamigo Trips - they'll take you to all the best spots, and you'll get to try a little bit of everything. You can even use their services to book your next tour, like the Marina Dhow Cruise with dinner.
