I still remember my first visit to Dubai on January 10th, 2018 — the city left me mesmerized. One thing I've learned over the years is that you don't have to break the bank to experience the best of Dubai. I'd often take a stroll along the Creek, watching the abras sail by, for just 1 AED.
So, if you're looking for something quirky and off the beaten path, head to Al Quoz. This industrial area is home to some amazing street art - and the best part? It's completely free. Look for the iconic 'Love Hearts' mural on 8th Street, and don't forget to take a photo to capture the moment.
Here's the thing: Dubai's museums are mostly free or low-cost. The Dubai Museum, for instance, costs just 3 AED to enter. And, honestly, it's a great place to learn about the city's history and culture. But, if you're interested in something more modern, check out the 3D World Selfie Museum Dubai - tickets start at around 50 AED.
And then, there's the Creek — a historic area that's steeped in tradition. Take a walk along the waterfront, and you'll see the old souks, or markets, selling everything from spices to gold. You can even take an abra ride across the Creek for just 1 AED — my driver, Ahmed, was a great guide. I ordered a plate of machboos from a street food stall afterwards, and it was delicious.
Dubai has some amazing parks and beaches that are free or low-cost. The Jumeirah Beach, for instance, is free to visit, and it's a great place to relax and soak up the sun. If you're looking for something more adventurous, check out the IMG Worlds of Adventure — tickets start at around 245 AED.
Getting around Dubai is relatively easy - the metro is efficient, and a single ride costs around 4 AED. You can also take a taxi, but be prepared for traffic, especially during rush hour. If you're feeling fancy, book a luxury tour of the Burj Al Arab. So, the next time you're in Dubai, don't be afraid to venture off the beaten path - and who knows, you might just discover a new favorite spot.
