Free Flamingo Watching in Dubai

Roamigo Team June 21, 2026

I visited Ras Al Khor wildlife sanctuary on a sunny Saturday, 12th February, and it was amazing. You can see these beautiful creatures up close - for free! Look, I know what you're thinking, what's the catch? But honestly, there isn't one. Just head to the sanctuary, near Dubai Mall, and enjoy the views.

Getting There

So, how do you get to Ras Al Khor? It's pretty simple. Take the metro to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, then grab a taxi or drive down to the sanctuary. My driver, Khalid, took me there in no time, and it cost around 30 AED. And, if you're feeling hungry, stop by the small cafeteria near the entrance for a snack — I had a delicious shawarma for just 15 AED.

What to Expect

Here's the thing: the sanctuary is huge, and you'll need to walk a bit to get to the flamingo viewing areas. But trust me, it's worth it. You'll see hundreds of these stunning birds, and it's completely free. I spent hours just watching them, and I even learned a thing or two about their habitat and behavior.

Other Activities

If you're looking for more fun activities in Dubai, check out the Motiongate Dubai theme park, or the 3D World Selfie Museum. They're both a lot of fun, and offer a great way to spend the day. But if you're on a budget, Ras Al Khor is a great option - it won't cost you a thing!

Practical Tips

So, what should you bring to the sanctuary? Don't forget your camera, sunscreen, and a bottle of water. It can get pretty hot, especially during the summer months. And, if you're planning to visit during the week, be aware that the sanctuary can get busy on weekends, so it's best to arrive early. You can also book a guided tour through Roamigo Trips for a more personalized experience.

Honestly, I had an amazing time at Ras Al Khor, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Dubai. Just remember to respect the birds and their habitat, and you'll have a great time. So, what are you waiting for? Head to Ras Al Khor and start flamingo watching today!
