Hatta's Hidden Gem

Ahmed Al Rashid June 15, 2026

I still remember the day, 15th February, when I decided to take a break from Dubai's hustle and bustle and head to Hatta mountain pools. And, I must say, it was a great decision. The 2-hour drive from Sheikh Zayed Road was long, but the scenery was breathtaking.

Getting There

Look, the easiest way to get to Hatta is by car, and I'd recommend hiring a driver, like my friend, Rashid, who charged me AED 200 for the round trip. But, if you don't have a car, don't worry, there are plenty of taxis available from the Hatta Metro Station.

What to Expect

So, as you arrive at the Hatta mountain pools, you'll be greeted by the sound of running water and the stunning views of the Hajar Mountains. Honestly, it's a nature lover's paradise, with its crystal-clear pools, perfect for a relaxing swim, and beautiful hiking trails, ideal for a challenging hike.

Things to Do

Here's the thing: there are plenty of activities to do in Hatta, from hiking and swimming to kayaking and camping. And, if you're feeling adventurous, you can even try your hand at archery or axe-throwing. I decided to try the kayaking, which cost me AED 100 per hour, and it was an exhilarating experience.

Food and Drink

After a long day of hiking and swimming, I headed to the Hatta Fort Hotel to try their famous machboos, a traditional Emirati dish, which cost me AED 50. And, let me tell you, it was delicious. But, if you're looking for something more luxurious, you can always head back to Dubai and book a Premium Marina Dhow Cruise, which I'd highly recommend.

Practical Tips

So, if you're planning to visit Hatta mountain pools, make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat, as it can get very hot. And, don't forget to book your tour in advance, as it can get busy, especially on weekends. You can book your tour through Roamigo Trips, and they'll take care of everything, from transportation to activities.
