Ramadan in Dubai: A Unique Experience

Ahmed Al Rashid May 24, 2026

I still remember the night of 15th April 2022, when I walked through the crowded streets of Downtown Dubai, feeling the spirit of Ramadan all around me. The smell of traditional Arabic dishes filled the air, and the sound of the Quran being recited from the mosques created a sense of tranquility. So, what changes can you expect in Dubai during Ramadan?

What is Ramadan?

And, to be honest, I didn't know much about Ramadan until I experienced it firsthand. It's a month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth for Muslims, where they abstain from food and drink from dawn to sunset. But, despite the fasting, the city comes alive after sunset with iftar feasts and suhoor meals.

Changes in Dubai during Ramadan

Look, some things do change in Dubai during Ramadan - working hours are reduced, and restaurants are closed during the day. However, you can still grab a snack or meal at some malls or hotels, like the ones on Sheikh Zayed Road, for around AED 50-100. Honestly, it's not that difficult to find something to eat, even during the day.

Experiencing Iftar in Dubai

Here's the thing: experiencing iftar in Dubai is a must. I tried the iftar buffet at the Armani Hotel, which cost around AED 250 per person, and it was amazing. The spread included traditional Arabic dishes like shawarma, falafel, and umm ali, which I just couldn't get enough of. You can also try the The View at The Palm – Prime Time Experience for a unique iftar experience.

Things to do in Dubai during Ramadan

So, what can you do in Dubai during Ramadan? You can visit the IMG Worlds of Adventure Dubai: World’s Largest Indoor Theme Park or take an Evening Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner, Fire Show & Belly Dance to experience the city's adventure side. Just be sure to check the timings and prices, which may vary during Ramadan.

Practical Tips

And, finally, a practical tip: be respectful of those who are fasting, and try to avoid eating or drinking in public during the day. You can book tours through Roamigo Trips to experience the best of Dubai during Ramadan, and get a deeper understanding of the local culture.
