Riding Camels in Dubai Desert

Sarah Mitchell June 07, 2026

Getting Ready for the Ride

I visited the Dubai desert on January 10th, and my driver, Ali, picked me up from Sheikh Zayed Road. We headed to the desert, and I was given a chance to ride a camel. Honestly, I was a bit nervous, but the guide helped me get comfortable on the camel's back. And then we started moving, the camel's gait was a bit bumpy, but I enjoyed it.

What to Expect

Look, camel riding in the desert is not just about sitting on a camel — it's an experience. You'll get to see the sand dunes, feel the sun on your skin, and experience the tranquility of the desert. The cost is around 150 AED per person for a 30-minute ride. But don't worry, it's worth every dirham. You'll also get to take plenty of photos to show off your adventure on social media.

Choosing the Right Tour

So, if you're planning to go on a desert safari, I'd recommend booking a tour that includes camel riding, like the Evening Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner, Fire Show & Belly Dance. This tour offers a lot of value for your money, and you'll get to experience the desert in all its glory. I ordered the shawarma, which was delicious, and cost around 20 AED.

Practical Tips

Here's the thing: you should wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as you'll be walking on sand and riding a camel. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun. If you're planning to visit Abu Dhabi, consider taking the Full-Day Abu Dhabi City Tour from Dubai with Pickup to make the most of your trip.

Booking Your Tour

Tours can be booked through Roamigo Trips, and I recommend checking out their other offers, like the Motiongate Dubai Tickets. To make the most of your camel ride, arrive early, and don't be afraid to ask your guide for help — they're there to ensure you have a great time.
