Sleeping Under Dubai Stars

Ahmed Al Rashid May 29, 2026

I'll never forget the night I spent sleeping under the stars in Dubai's desert - it was 15th February and the sky was incredibly clear. We'd set up camp near Al Awir, a short drive from the city, and spent the evening gazing up at the constellations. You can't put a price on that kind of experience, but if you had to, it'd be around AED 250 per person for an overnight trip.

Getting There

So, you're probably wondering how to get to the desert - it's not exactly a short walk from the BurJuman metro station. But don't worry, most tour operators will pick you up from your hotel and drive you out to the campsite. Our driver, Rashid, was a great guy and had some fantastic stories about the desert and its history.

What to Expect

Look, I'm not going to lie, the toilets are basic and the showers are non-existent, but that's all part of the adventure, right? And the food — oh man, the food was amazing. We had a delicious Arabic feast, complete with machboos and umm ali, all for AED 100 per person. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first, but it was so good that we ended up ordering seconds.

Activities

Here's the thing: there's more to desert camping than just sleeping under the stars. We went on a thrilling dune bashing ride, tried our hand at sandboarding, and even took a camel ride across the dunes. And if you're looking for more adventure, you should check out the Marina Dhow Cruise with dinner - it's a great way to see the city from a different perspective.

Tips and Tricks

So, you're planning your own overnight desert camping trip - congratulations, you're in for an adventure. Just remember to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a warm jacket for the evenings. And don't forget your camera — the sunsets are truly breathtaking. By the way, if you have some time left in Dubai, consider visiting the Dubai Miracle Garden - it's a beautiful spot for a relaxing stroll.

Booking Your Trip

And finally, if you're ready to book your own desert camping adventure, you can do so through Roamigo Trips - they offer a range of packages, starting from AED 250 per person, and can even customize a trip to fit your needs. But don't wait too long, spots fill up quickly, especially during peak season.
