I still remember my visit to the Mleiha Archaeological Centre on a sunny Saturday, 15th February. It was an eye-opener. So, if you're looking for a unique experience, this is the place to be. You'll get to explore the ancient ruins and fossils, all for just AED 25.
Look, getting to Mleiha isn't as complicated as it seems. You can take a taxi from Sharjah or Dubai, and it'll cost you around AED 100-150, depending on traffic. And, if you're feeling adventurous, you can even drive there yourself, just make sure to fill up on gas beforehand. Honestly, the scenic route is half the fun.
Here's the thing: Mleiha is more than just a bunch of old ruins. You'll get to see ancient artifacts, like pottery and tools, and even fossils of prehistoric animals. But, what really caught my attention was the reconstructed Bronze Age house — it's like stepping back in time. For AED 10, you can even take a guided tour, which I highly recommend.
So, before you head out, make sure to pack some water, sunscreen, and a hat, as it can get pretty hot. And, don't forget your camera, you'll want to capture the stunning views of the surrounding desert. If you're planning to visit other attractions in the UAE, I'd recommend checking out our Dubai Half-Day City Tour: Modern & Historical Highlights for a more comprehensive experience.
But, if you want my personal favorite, I'd say take a break from the desert sun and head back to Dubai for a relaxing Deluxe Marina Dhow Cruise. You can even grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants near Dubai Marina, I personally love the burgers at a small cafe on Marina Walk. For around AED 150, you can enjoy a lovely dinner cruise, which is a great way to cap off your day.
