Yas Island is about 30 kilometres from Abu Dhabi city centre and 120 kilometres from Dubai. It was built on a man-made island in the early 2000s and now holds four major theme parks, a Formula 1 circuit, a waterpark, a shopping mall, and somewhere around a dozen hotels. It's a lot to process. The question is what's actually worth going to.
The short answer: if you like theme parks, it's genuinely one of the best clusters of parks outside of Orlando. If you don't like theme parks, don't go.
Ferrari World is the largest indoor theme park on earth. The distinctive red roof is visible from the airport highway. Inside, it's air-conditioned, well-designed, and less frantic than the outdoor parks. The main draw is Formula Rossa, the world's fastest roller coaster at 240 km/h. It's over in about 90 seconds, the queue can be 90 minutes, and it is absolutely worth it.
For kids, Junior GT — the children's driving experience — is popular. For adults who want to move fast without the coaster, Turbo Track launches you vertically through the roof of the building and back down. Tickets run AED 395 for adults, AED 330 for children under 1.2 metres.
Warner Bros. World opened in 2018 and holds DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, and classic Warner Bros. film properties all under one roof. It's indoor and enormous. Justice League: Warworld Attacks is the standout ride — a motion simulator combined with live-action sets that's technically impressive. Adults without kids often enjoy it more than expected.
Ticket prices are similar to Ferrari World at around AED 395 adults. If you're doing both, a dual-park ticket saves around AED 100.
SeaWorld opened on Yas Island in 2023 and added new zones in 2026. It's the first SeaWorld outside North America and doesn't include orca shows — the focus is on marine education alongside rides and animal exhibits. The surf coaster is good. The Arctic Expedition exhibit, where you can get close to walrus and beluga whale exhibits, is the kind of thing kids remember years later.
The F1 circuit is open to the public outside race weekends. You can drive your own car on the track for around AED 300 (book via the circuit website), do a hot lap with a professional driver in a sports car, or hire a racing kart for a longer session. The circuit also hosts concerts and events through the year. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November is the biggest event on Yas Island's calendar — hotel prices triple and you should book at least six months ahead.
A realistic plan is one theme park per day. Trying to do Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World in a single day leaves you rushing through both. If you have two days, that covers the two indoor parks comfortably. SeaWorld is better on a third day or with children as the primary audience.
Yas Mall is connected by a walkway to several hotels and is a decent place to eat without paying theme park food prices. Shake Shack, Nando's, and several sit-down restaurants are all inside.
